Ben & Denise Charles - Crazy Faith Ministry

I had the opportunity to sit down with Ben Charles from Crazy Faith Outreach. Ben and his wife Denise were both ordained by Healing The NW Ministries and have been ministering on the streets of Olympia, Washington for several years now. It was my goal to dive into their world and hear from them on key issues. Here are some of the responses to the questions I asked during this Ministry Moment.
See Crazy Faith in action -

How did crazy faith come about?
We started with street ministry in West Olympia. We were called to minister to the homeless and we had a key person to make the connections for us into the homeless community. After the murder of our key person to the homeless community all of the people were looking to Ben and Denise to continue everything. The name Crazy Faith came about as the name from people in the church who called what we were doing Crazy. Normal faith is Crazy faith apparently.

What were some of the challenges you faced getting started?
Lack of funding, we literally had nothing. Thanksgiving 2010 God told us to go feed people. We showed up on the streets feeding people out of the back of vehicle with what food we could scrape together. Someone had brought really large plates. I (Ben) tried to put on just enough food so it would last for a little while, but God said to me “Is that how you would eat it?” I then started piling the plates full. There was nowhere near enough food. We had estimated 20 plates at the rate the food was going. After 70 plates we stopped counting, The food was not running out. Praise God!

Did you have all the answers when you started?
None.. I had no answers and no clue why the Lord would use us to the magnitude that he has. He has given us good godly direction without understanding. God told me (Ben) that it would take 80 years for me to understand and then he would only have one and half years to minister if he did that. God told me to follow his direction and if I tripped over understanding along the way that was a bonus.

What would you like to say to other ministers that may being feeling that tug from God to go into their own ministry?
Bookmark Mark 16:15, 17-18; Matt 10:8 as well. I would encourage people to go and start doing. Only go and do what Holy Spirit tells you to do. Have that relationship to know what he is saying.
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. And these signs will follow those who believe:In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15,17-18

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Matthew 10:8
One piece of advice that you wish someone had given to you when you started?
To just start, not to worry about the checklists that everyone else has.

Notable Moments in Ministry
Ben raised one of their street family from the dead. An accident happened and Ben did not have much time to begin with so he went over to the people standing over their friend that lay on the side walk. Ben said something to the effects of "In the name of Jesus get up" and clapped his hands and the man awoke. Ben then went about his regularly scheduled business.

They have started a Home Church (not intentionally). They were originally going to bless a house and then they started giving prophetic words. More and more people kept coming. Skeptics came to receive prophetic words and were blown away by the Holy Spirit. So now they meet regularly.
